Can I take benadryl after taking xanax?

I'm no doc, but I have been prescribed to xanax for over half of my life... you took .5mgs and later wanted to take benedryl... I feel completely confident telling you that's absolutely fine to do. if you had taken more xanax than .5mgs AND it was immediately after that that you wanted to take benedryl I wouldn't be so sure. but mainly what I should be saying is, since you took a small dose of xanax and still had a hard time sleeping 5hours later that must mean you don't feel any drowsy effects that would make ME worry whether I should mix my xanax w something else that has the same drowsy effects. I'm gonna say you're completely fine, but please please do not mix benedryl or Sudafed or anything that causes drowsiness ALONG with any benzodiazepine (xanax) If they would be taken close together OR if you already feel any drowsy effects at all from the other. it will slow your breathing and could slow it too much.try to avoid mixing them but if absolutely necessary space it out and again DO NOT MIX ANYTHING IF YOURE ALREADY FEELING DROWSY EFFECTS FROM THE OTHER. :) I hope I was able to help if there's another time you get in a similar situation. xoxo
