16 year old daughter diagnosed with Influenza, so her MD prescribed Tamiflu for her, 75mg. Capsules, twice daily for 5 days. He also prescribed my husband and myself Tamiflu, 75 mg. Capsules, once daily for 10 days. I am on numerous meds, but not my husband or daughter. My husband and I have experienced severe GI symptoms, insomnia, nightmares, and a strange feeling of "loopy"(per our daughter), "really different, so out of it" (per my husband), and I feel kind of out of it, but also noticed a big increase in my depression and anxiety and even something last night that I would describe as "brain spasms". Just wondering if anyone else has had any of these odd things with the use of Tamiflu?
Anyone else have terrible negative side effects with the use of Tamiflu?

@kbradt ,
I am also experiencing these bizarre side effects exactly as you are describing ! I have been able to receive little to no help from the doctor I went to because these seem to be very rare side effects. I am on week 2 1/2 and still just don't feel all there / higher than normal anxiety and feel really different and out of it (in an uncomfortable way) .
How long was it until you symptoms went away? Did you see them coming in waves ? thanks
Hello how are you doing now ? I hope you answer I’m in need in help
It’s definitely coming in waves for me. I experience severe anxiety at times. I took tamiflu for three days and it’s been 7 days of experiencing high anxiety and depression.
Ive been on Tamiflu for a 4 days. I have had stomach aches and horrible diarrhea. Im not even sure if I can keep taking the meds.
Absolutely no problems and relief from the flu started swiftly. Sorry you have had problems
Tamiflu gives me bad cramps and gas in my stomach after I take a pill. I know I dont have appetite until one day I gargle with mouthwash and that help me a lot.
how long did it take until you were back to normal?
Thankfully, we all seemed to recover within a couple of weeks. Are you starting to feel better?
yes this has just happened to my grandmother, she is in a personal care home and very alert, and coherent. the flu was going around so they gave all residents Tamiflu, by the afternoon, she did not know where she was or who she was, and could not drink fluids, they took her to the hospital and gave her test, ct scan, etc. and determined that her condition were the side effects from tamilfu. they should not have given it to her. this happened one week ago. she is still having effects such as terrible night mares, seeing butterflies, babies, not knowing who people are. these side effects come and go, but she is acting in a child like state and said the night mares are terrible. they pushed fluids through her on a iv the day it happened, I don't know if these side effects are reversible. after doing research they say it has not been proven to prevent or treat the flu. she never had it to begin with. have you stopped taking Tamiflu and do you still have the side effects? I would not give it to my children or anyone.
We stopped taking it after the 3 doses when I wrote my question. It is so scary that a medication with possible side affects as drastic as these is given and even recommended to those with influenza let alone those without being diagnosed with influenza. The more research I have done, the more I would not ever take this medication again. And to think it "may" reduce symptoms by only one day. Definitely not worth the risk.
3-25-15) completed Tamiflu 3 days ago. Worked well for flu, but depressive symptoms as severe as the first signs years ago. Feels as if ssri's I've been on forever have been rendered ineffective. Any ideas how long before normalcy returns ?
My Grandmother got worse from her symtoms and has now passed away, she had severe seizures that were horrible for a period of 6 days. For such a lovely person to go through her final days of being poisoned this way was terrible. We watched her die from this. Something needs to be done.
How long did it take until you returned to feeling normal? I was doing really great on my SSRI for two months. After three days of taking tamiflu, it’s like my SSRI’s stopped working. Doc says it’s a matter of time before I return to feeling normal. How long did it take for you to feel like your SSRIs were working again? Thanks!
It's possible there's an allergy, interactions (for you) or something flu related causing all this.
