Pantoprazole is a PPI I've taken all of them over the years and never had a taste issue. Pantoprazole was one. I assume the taste change is experienced for hours or 24/7. My wife has been stricken with a permanent taste change it's not uncommon for those in the later years to suffer this. All foods are tasteless to my wife. It can happen at any age for various reasons. You seem to have an issue with only the pill, so I would not worry. You should talk to your doctor about it and have the PPI changed to another. It only takes a phone call to his office at no cost. I'm currently on 40 of omeprazole.
