I was prescribe the vaginal metrogel yesterday and have put it in last night and this night... I have not drank because I have read online that it isn't safe to take while taking the medication. But I mostly read that for Flagyl... Does it make a difference if it's the vaginal gel?? Had anyone drank and had any bad side effects as a result of drinking while using this gel? And will I have any side effects after a night of drinking and coming home and inserting the gel? I just want my corona!! Lol.
Has anyone ever drank alcohol while taking the metronidazole vaginal gel(0.75%)? Side effects??

I have used metrogel and drank a few beers during and I've had no bad reactions. I think the majority of people won't have a reaction ,however, you can't be sure . and I'm not sure how long it takes to react it sounded like the person who commented they vomited, it sounded like it was a pretty quick reaction. might want to drink a few sips at home, to see how you feel before you head out!
I am sure everyone is different, but I just finished a 5 day course of the Metrogel vaginal for BV. I went out and had a couple of drinks on my anniversary, which was in the middle of treatment, and had no bad side effects.
I can hardly believe it as I am a nurse and usually don’t follow the warnings to the letter. After just losing my dinner, I would say unequivocally yes... drinking alcohol while using metro gel will cause vomitting. It is really not a joke. I coughed, choked, almost aspirated to death, followed by projectile vomitting.
So my question is i think almost the same... im starting the gel insert tonight but was gonna have a cpl drinks at an early happy hour. Will this affect me... im pretty sure the alcohol will be outta system or a light amount will. TIA
HelloKitty95 - I'm in the same boat now. I'm thinking I will be fine if I am using the gel and not taking the pills. Did you drink while taking the Metronidazole Gel?
