Have tried both and stopped. Had uncomfortable dry mouth after 2 weeks on buspirone so I stopped taking it. Does the dry mouth go away the longer you take it?
Has anyone compared their reaction to Buspar and hydroxyzine for moderate anxiety?

Hi, Twindeer!
Hydroxyzine was just TOO sedating for me so my psychiatrist prescribed another medication.
As for buspirone, I take 60mg/day (30am/30pm) for severe anxiety and it works extremely well with no side effects.
Side effects generally resolve within several weeks. Did you try a product like Biotene for the dry mouth?
Best regards and I hope you find something that will work for you.
I do have a hangover feeling in the morning with 75mg, so I sometimes take 50mg on top of Remeron and get a good night rest.
Hello,
I am currently taking both medicine. Yes, my doctor had discontinued hydroxyzine. But I still have a bottle that I sometimes take at night on top of Remeron to fall asleep quickly. Overall, I have no negative reactions. I love both medications. I’d recommend you taking one at a time because both medication are non-habituating and cause less withdrawal symptoms when discontinued. You should try taking the hydroxyzine first at bedtime for a week or 2, then you can add BuSpar afterwards and see how you react. If you still experiencing symptoms then speak with your doctor and try something else to help you.

I take 20mg(10am/10pm) BuSpar and 50mg hydroxyzine before bedtime and they both work great for my anxiety.
