Trintellix is an SSRI like all the other SSRI's. They all achieve the same effect... serotonin re-uptake inhibition... but in a slightly different fashion affecting different receptor sites in the brain and no two are exactly alike.
It all comes down to trial and error in finding the one (or the combination of drugs) that works most effectively for each individual.
Thank you both, Rathmullan and Wildcat, for your answers. I have tried many antidepressants, but at this point in my life, Trintellix is not the right one for me. Too many side effects that haven't subsided, compared to the benefits, for me, that is.
My understanding is that, relative to other anti-depressants, Viibryd would be most similar to Trintellix because in addition to being an SSRI it, like Trintellix, also has 5-HT1A receptor agonist properties.
Take care for now and all the best.
