The lactic acid component of Ammonium lactate may exfoliate (remove) the darker skin cells and reduce the browness of age spots... It is not necessary to treat age spots so it's "up to you" if you want to try it. It certainly isn't dangerous.
Generally though Ammonium lactate is used as a moisturizer to treat dry, scaly, itchy skin.
