I just started taking amitiptyline two days ago for what seems to be chronic vestibular migraines. I also have been suffering with back and neck pain for years. I am very hopeful that this pill will help bring back my old life! I was prescribed 10 mg nightly. The pill helped me sleep the first night ( wonderful! ) and I got the feeling that my migraine symptoms had even diminished a bit...
I am a bit worried about the side effects, though: numbness in my feet, pain (cramp like) and burning sensation in my calves. Has anyone had this and does it pass? Thanks ahead for any answer!

I started taking 10mg Amitriptyline on a night to relieve anxiety and help me sleep about 6 weeks ago and have just started getting cramp like feelings in my calves so I’m wondering if it’s related as I’ve never experienced cramp before, apart from when I was pregnant. I think to relieve the anxiety and aid sleep it has been brilliant!
I have been on ami since April started at 5mg for anxiety and worked my way up to now at 25mg. I have been having some burning in the upper arms and some numbness in the hands and parts of my face and throat. They seem to come and go. I have gone to ER thinbking it was something else and they say its probably anxiety. Yesterday I developed numbess in the toes which is new. Not helping that much with the anxiety. Anyone else taking for anxiety and having these issues? Heading to see GP tomorow and PDocx next week.
I have been on it for more than 40 yrs and I've never had that feeling.
Wow that's a long time. What dose are you on and what are you taking it for. Mine is for anxiety and I have developed numbness in both feet in the toes and heels. I am at 25mg.

Sometimes they pass and for some folks they do not. either way you'll have to give is 2-3 weeks to settle in, and it is best not to change the dose or add or subtract any other medications during the adjustment period. Check out the link I've provided, it has a lot of information about this medication's potential side effects. Hope it helps:
Thanks! I appreciate the quick response!
You are very welcome. Feel free to keep me posted.
