I'm taking 20mg at night and would like to know if I need to take extra precautions in the sun. I read that there is a risk but is that only with higher doses? Any help welcome, thanks.

I’m on 20mg as well as 20mg fluoxetine and I find I get very sunburnt very quickly now. 20 minutes in sun and I’m a tomato. Alcohol also interacts and makes me very tired and wobbly. It seems each drink is worth about 3 for me.
I just started a low dose of Ami, and I live in FL. I asked my doctor and he said not to worry. Of course I wouldn't just lay out in the sun. I just try to sit in shady areas, but I haven't had any problems with the sun so far.
Shoitoh; Just as my good friend Masso, has put down sun or tanning beds makes no difference of how many mg you're taking it can cause a super bad burn don't take any chances I have seen people with 2nd and 3rd-degree burns from tanning beds. And if you're out in the sun to cover with clothes or high sunscreen and have someone else also keep an eye on you.
What should I avoid while taking amitriptyline?
Do not drink alcohol. Dangerous side effects or death can occur when alcohol is combined with amitriptyline.
This medication may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.
Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning beds. Amitriptyline can make you sunburn more easily. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) when you are outdoors.
