I take it for sleep only. Right before bed at 11ish. So I guess it works because I’m sleeping better. But been on it 6 years and now the 1mg is not as effective anymore, so I’ll have to ask my doctor to up the dose. But I’m hesitant to ask( even though he gets $300 for 15 minute visit) of course I can’t take extra but I’ll run out to soon. See the dilemma?
Alprazolam - I take 1mg for sleep, but not working like before?

Hello.
Six years on this medicine is long enough for your bodies system to build-up a tolerance and therefore you'll have to talk to your health care provider for an increase or he/she might want you to try a different benzo or add one for sleep, like Temazepam that's actually meant for sleep. I take a Xanax, .5mg three times a day as NEEDED and one 30mg. Capsule of Temazepam (a sleep benzo) ONLY as needed. That's very important to ONLY use as prescribed, as needed, or your body might build-up a tolerance to that too.
Question: is your medicine prescribed for sleep? Or generalized anxiety? These are concerns I have because you may need to take both meds or a medicine thats directly developed for sleep. Please discuss this with your health care provider.

Thank you. Yes it’s for sleep only. I also take Prozac for past 6 years also. Prozac is for mild depression and anxiety
