I had an allergic reaction to an acne medicine about 5 years ago. After orally taking the prescribed pill, I had a pretty bad skin reaction and found out that I was allergic to Sulfur. I’m hoping to find out if pills containing Sulfates ingredients will cause the same reaction? I noticed a specific Adderall brand contained sulfate ingredients so wanted to make sure before taking. And if sulfates will give me the same reaction, does anyone know if there are any specific Adderall brands that don’t contain sulfates? Thank you
If I’m allergic to sulfur, does that mean pills that contain sulfate will cause allergic?

I have recently just started taking adderall in the generic form. I have taken 2 different generics from 2 different manufacturers with no issues (Mallinckrodft & Epic) however my refill this month was from the manufacturer Teva and I instantly noticed it was not the same as soon as I took the first dose. It gave me bad headaches, nausea, diarrhea and just an over all sick feeling. I noticed that the Teva brand had a sweet taste to it so I started researching the inactive ingredients among the different brands and I learned that Teva uses a filler called saccharin sodium which contains sulfonamides (sulfa). I have a severe allergy to sulfa and that filler was what was making me sick.
If you have a sulfa allergy it is true that you can still take other sulfates with no issues but beware of the fillers in these generics! So far Teva is the only generic manufacturer I have found that uses this filler and Teva is the manufacturer for brand name Adderall which also contains this ingredient. I'm hoping this will help save someone the suffering I have been through from this generic brand. I have had no issues with other manufacturers but if you have a sulfa allergy stay away from Teva and always research the inactive ingredients before taking a medication!

No wonder I have always hated the taste of the sweetener saccharin as I’m severely allergic to sulfa drugs, the element sulfur, as well as sulfites, and sulfates. I cannot eat lunch meats, have to watch soaps and shampoos, even lotions and many so-called GOOD supplements as they usually have some form of the above in them. Ugh! Thanks for the information!
Chandler is exactly right- you CAN take sulfates if you have a sulfa allergy they are different compounds. Sulfate is just the salt or base the amphetamines are placed in so they will dissolve correctly in your system. Sulfa is actually a class of compounds all to themselves. I actually have a sulfa allergy and take Adderall 20mg 2x/day and have no problems with allergy whatsoever.

You can safely take any Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine Tablet (Generic Adderall) . a patient with a sulfa (sulfonamide) drug allergy can safely take drugs containing sulfate which is a completely different unrelated compound. Anyone with a sulfur allergy can safely take drugs containing sulfate as well. They are NOT the same thing.
