Victoza has been a miracle drug for me- it dropped my A1C from 10.8 to 5.8, helped me lose 15 pounds in 3 months and dropped my blood pressure from 130/85 to 115/72. Unfortunately, I had a dispute with my insurance company and couldn't take it for six weeks.
The results- well, everything quickly reversed. My A1C skyrocketed back passed 10, I regained the weight and my blood pressure rose. Now I'm back on it and everything is fine.
Basically, if you stop taking Victoza whatever gains it gave you will go away but if you have side effects, then they go away as well. Pretty fast too like a couple of days.
As for Thyroid cancer and pancretitis- the FDA website is a good source for information
Google "fda Questions and Answers - Safety Requirements for Victoza (liraglutide)" and hit the top answer under the ads.
The type of thyroid cancer is very rare- only 600 cases in the US and the dose was very high (8 times the dose you'd get for diabetes) The studies on pancreatitis found that in 3900 patients, 7 develpoed pancreatitis and only one in the control groups. Its not enough to find a link but its a common side effect of diabetic drugs
High blood sugars are a very real health threat and swamp the risks that these two side effects might have. You should be aware of them and take precautions if their symptoms develop
