Every week for the past few years I self administer HRT, typically injecting 1.5ml into the vastus lateralis (rotating between each side and across the muscle).
Yesterday night was doing everything as usual when injecting, drew from vial with a 18g needle then switched to a 23g. Before injecting I looked at the syringue and think i saw a piece of rubber from the stopper. Since I had switched to a 23g I thought it wouldnt pass through the needle (bad decision, was sleepy and didnt think well). Injected without applying much force, it went smoothly so I thought the piece of rubber would just be in the syringue but it wasnt. Currently the injection site is as usual in other administrations. Should I do anything like go to the dr? Is this common at all and are there any long term risks if the rubber just sits there?
Accidentaly injected small piece of a rubber stopper, what should I do?

Go to the Dr immediately. Rubber isn't made to go into your body like this. You need to have it removed. It can get infected or worse. My advice... Go to the Dr.
