Everyone is different... but personally the second I can feel one coming I put it on and it usually doesn’t even surface, if it does it dries up and goes away within 2 days. But if you already have one I find it’s not as effective it just helps with the pain.
Everyone is different but I find that RIGHT when you first feel the tingle that a cold sore might be coming, THAT is when you apply Abreva to the area. Recently I felt this, applied Abreva, rubbing it in 4 times a day and the cold sore never appeared. So I find it does help - now once you actually have the cold sore, it says applying Abreva shortens the length of the outbreak, but who knows?
