Hello gabroelsma1208. I am not a doctor but the manner, way you describe the "tiny piece" I agree with your PC. He should be fine. Its such as small amount. Best of wishes to you and your son, pledge
If you called poison control and they told you he would be alright, then he will. Poison control will never steer you wrong. I know all too well accidents can happen but you must always be sure to keep medications out of the reach of children. Especially once they are very mobile and into everything! Which is the ages of about 1 to 5 y/o. You cant depend on being able to take something away because accidents happen in a split second! You must always be vigilant to keep harmful things up and away from their reach! No worries if poison control said the baby would be fine. Remember that Unisom is just the same thing as Benedryl and Benedryl (or diphenhydramine) can be given to babies and children too.
i wish i could have gotten it from it but i use the meltaways so it was gone before i could get it hes sleeping now so I'm just keeping a close eye on him thank you for your input i appreciate it
It can happen so fast. I had a similar scare when my first born was little. My husband had dropped a half of one of his allergy pills and couldnt find it. He did not tell me about it. One day, a few days later, I was putting clothes in the dryer and my son was toddling around holding onto the dryer door when something fell out of his mouth. At first glance I thought he'd put a small rock in his mouth, then I took a closer look at it and realized it was part of my husbands allergy pill. At that time I had no phone to call poison control so I had to drive him to the nearest ER.
They checked him over and first they thought he had high blood pressure but a second reading and a third confirmed he didnt-the cuff they were using was for preemies not toddlers so it was the cuff that was too small giving a false high reading! I was terrified! They reassured me the same, that children can take antihistamines too, and I got the same dire warning "keep meds out of the reach of children" I gave his father an ear full when he got home about leaving a pill on the floor. My husband figured since he couldnt find it that the baby wouldnt either. Shortly after that we were able to get a phone put in too! I completely know how scary it is!! I learned how fast something bad can happen right under your very nose! Thank goodness he was ok. That baby is getting married next weekend-he is 21 years old now-and going into the Army in October! I'm sure your little one will be fine too.
wow i would have been scared to death if this happened to me like that i just wish it wasnt a melt away i could have got it but ill be careful about where i take them from now on that was to close of a call for me and tell ur son i said congrats on the wedding and the Army. im also 21 :) so its kinda cool that u have a son my age
