I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and it really has given me a quality of life back and eased my pain considerably. I have heard so many negative things about this med. Any advise?
I take 20mg prednisone 2x per day for 3 days twice a month. Will this dosage cause side effects ?

LINRIN1; So if I have it right that would be like 12 pills a month You have a very smart doctor the new stuff is so much harder on people if I could get by with what you're doing and you feel you have your life back don't fight it. And really leave it to your doctor or Pharmacist to worry at this dose you should be just fine. try not to listen to the negative people on Prednisone my friend focus on the positive things and at times the doctor may change it a bit up or down it is when the people that are on 60 to 120mg every day all of these side effects hit So as long as your doing well that is the main thing. And your doctor will give you warnings if there is any problems BEST of luck and very happy that you are able to get by with such a low amount. As with any medication the lower the dose the fewer side effects Best wishes. And please feel free to bookmark this site I feel it is one of the best and many very good people on here.
Thanks so much, appreciate your response! It puts my mind at ease,as you said,so many negative remarks about this med. I got really bad side effects with the other RA meds,so off all them now. Thanks again and hope you are doing well. What are you taking for your RA?
Many people have no issues with predisolne and I hope it works for you as many people are on it. I can only speak for myself, but after 9 months of strenuous testing by many top specialists, it is believed I suffered an extremely rare, 1/100 million, reaction to a three day course of predisolne, which caused a 4 major joint a vascular necrosis. I wear a medic alert bracelet and have been told never to have this drug again. Again I say, many people have no issues, and you will probably be in that category, but it is important to hear both sides of the coin. Good luck.
You are 100% right, I am sorry you had such a rare reaction from the prednisone. I hope you make sure and tell any doctors or your main Pharmacy to mark it that you get deadly sick and have an allergic reaction in case another doctor covering for your reg Doctor phones something in so the Pharmacist can catch it for you. But as you say what is steak for one could be poisen for another we are all different. thanks for sounding in rare but good to now.
Thanks Chuck, apparently I am a rare species, so other people should be fine. Good to hear all sides.
So sorry you had such a horrible side effect from Prednisone Chuck.
