Promazine has not been formally assigned to a pregnancy category by the FDA. A possible relationship between maternal administration in labor and neonatal hyperbilirubinemia has been suggested. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Promazine should only be given during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
