What is meclizine (meclazine)?
Meclizine (meclazine) is an antihistamine with anticholinergic properties used to treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness. It works by blocking a chemical messenger that is activating the vomiting center and thus prevents or reduces nausea and vomiting due to motion.
Meclizine (meclazine) may also be prescribed for the management of vertigo (a spinning sensation or a feeling that the ground is tilted) caused by certain inner ear problems i.e. within the vestibular system which contains sensors that control your balance. Meclizine (meclazine) may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Meclizine (meclazine) may cause you to become drowsy or less alert; therefore, driving a car or operating dangerous machinery is not recommended.
Common meclizine (meclazine) side effects may include drowsiness and dry mouth.
