Otiprio (ciprofloxacin otic suspension) is a prescription fluoroquinolone antibiotic suspension for the ear, used to treat pediatric patients with bilateral otitis media with effusion (fluid build-up in both ears) undergoing tympanostomy (ear) tube placement surgery. Fluid may build up in the middle ear as a result of a respiratory virus like a cold, or a sore throat.

It is given as a single dose by a doctor.

Otiprio is liquid at or below room temperature, and when it warms in the ear, it turns into a gel, helping keep the drug in place. After placement in the ear, Otiprio releases the drug over a prolonged period of time. See also: https://www.drugs.com/history/otiprio.html
