The profuse exudate resulting in enzymatic digestion may cause irritation. In these cases, more frequent changes of dressings until exudate diminishes will alleviate discomfort.

Other Comments

Cleansing with hydrogen peroxide solution should be avoided since it may inactivate the papain.

Upon first use of topical spray, the nozzle should be gently depressed to break the seal. The spray should be applied in a single layer to cover wound bed. Note that application of cover dressing (gauze or appropriate dressing of choice) should cause the drug to disperse for additional coverage. The nozzle should be wiped clean with gauze after each use. It is not necessary to prime or shake the bottle.

Chlorophyllin copper com/papain/urea may be applied under pressure dressings.
