For Bipolar Disorder "Seroquel has been nothing short of a miracle for my depression, anxiety, sleep, and mood. I take 800 mg at night around 10 pm and it has helped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. The side effect of weight gain has been significant but I’ll gladly take the trade of being fat."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was afraid to go on Seroquel because of the weight gain aspect that I heard complaints about. I have been on it for several months now and have not gained much. I am sleeping better than ever. It is a little tough to get out of bed in the morning, but once I get up, I am fine. The best thing about this medicine is how calm I feel on it. My anxiety is pretty much nonexistent at this point. I have BP1 with psychotic features, and I have not had any episodes at all since starting it. I would recommend this to anyone who needs help with stability with their bipolar and anxiety."

For Insomnia "I also completely agree with the first review. I have tried 9 sleep-aid medicines, including high doses of Ambien and Ambien CR. The medicines for sleep 'insomnia' really do nothing for people with true insomnia. Insomnia is a condition of the brain where your mind essentially does not stop working at night. Whether you are worried about something, excited, or are just thinking about something you saw on T.V or read in a paper during the day, you will not fall asleep until 20 minutes before you have to awaken. Sleep-aid medicines help people who just have poor sleep habits, like eating right before bed, etc. Seroquel actually suppresses your brain wave function and helps you mentally 'shut off.' No weight gain for me."

For Schizophrenia "My son has autism and anxiety. He started experiencing psychosis/auditory hallucinations at age 18...so bad he would yell and get very angry. We have started Seroquel, on it over 2 months now, some improvement but not great. His doc has now upped it from 25mg and we are now 500 mg. Along with Mirtazipine and Ativan for sleep. Hoping we can stay ahead of of his episodes instead of chasing them. I’ll give an update. Super helpful to read others reviews. praying we see some good results."

For Schizophrenia "I've been taking Seroquel for a long time. It destroyed my life. It's addictive because when you stop taking it you'll never be able to sleep again. There's no getting off of it. I sleep in till 2 to 5 pm every day. I'm sluggish all day. It never helped with any of my symptoms of schizophrenia. It makes me crave sugar immensely. This drug is very dangerous. You have to be very careful when taking it. Don't drive or be around people you don't know or trust. Let's just say I could sleep through anything. This drug should be illegal even if it does help some people with their mental illness. There are other things people can take. Risperdal for example does wonders for me. I'm working with my doctor on getting off of Seroquel. I didn't do it sooner because I'm so sick I can barely accomplish anything really. I just want to say to all schizophrenics I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that NOBODY has any idea of what's happening to you."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Seroquel off and on for three years. I have tried other meds for my Bipolar Disorder but nothing has worked better for me. I feel the only drawback is waking up in the morning with a cloudy head and dry mouth."

For Bipolar Disorder "I love Seroquel but not the XR type. Helps you to sleep well at night and wake up feeling great. Gives you major munchies at night and woke up with Reese's Pieces all over the bed. Does help with a lot on highs and lows. So for me it's worth a little weight gain. Overall this medicine has changed my life."

For Bipolar Disorder "I can, now, see my own sign of mania or depression (having had Dialectical Behavioral therapy for six months). With that said, the meds are not miracles and after some dialectical treatment to add to my “tool box”... seroquel really helps. When I am restless, racing thoughts and moody I feel well balance after about 48-72 hours after using “coping skills” plus adding seroquel to prevent lack of sleep which induces worsening of thoughts, moods, eating, etc. For me, it’s very helpful to have self-relaxation skills to level my reactions. I give this medication, after months of skill work, A++. My experience is not to say it is 100% fluent to all bipolar sufferers. Good thing DBT is not a medication so won’t hurt to try it as a “tool”. The side-effects are mild. It does make me drowsy and sometimes do get oily face... yet, I can accept that over extended episodes. I also have to keep drinking lots of water as dry mouth is mild and do feel thirsty."

For Bipolar Disorder "After suffering all of my life with depression and then later in life (20-33) with severe anxiety, insomnia, and a general feeling of restlessness to the point I thought I was going to 'crawl the walls', I was prescribed Seroquel. I quickly found out I had to take my dose at bedtime due to being so sleepy when I took it during the day. Seroquel has been the ONLY medicine that has worked for me to ease the symptoms of my Bipolar Disorder 1. A Big Thanks to Seroquel for making life easier for me!"

For Schizoaffective Disorder "My experience with quetiapine is amazingly positive. I tried, invega (that was bad) with unsuccessful results. I take Queatipine at a dose of 50mg at night and it makes me so much more relaxed and without any kind of bad feelings or thoughts. If you wanna be healthy and active during your days, this drug is highly recommended. In my case is used during night before sleep. It works!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I suffer from Bipolar II, take 200mg Lamictal daily, and was prescribed 25mg Seroquel to take at night to help me sleep during hypomanic episodes. My psychiatrist claimed it would calm the racing thoughts, help me fall asleep, and hopefully make me think more clearly during the day. After taking it, I would still be awake for a couple hours trying to sleep and still having racing thoughts. In the morning, I had the worst experiences trying to wake up. I wasn’t trying to wake up early or anything, like 11 on my free days so I could sleep in, and even then I could barely open my eyes enough to turn off my alarm and would immediately fall back asleep. After finally waking up, I felt groggy and disoriented throughout the day. I couldn’t think straight, and was unable to focus during my classes. Not a good experience. I only took it a few times, and decided it was only having negative effects so I stopped taking it."

For Bipolar Disorder "Seroquel truly changed my life for the better. I was on max doses of 3 drugs and still in a deep depression. (I am bipolar, with more depressive episodes than mania). It felt hopeless and like I'd hit a brick wall. Psychiatrist recommended Seroquel as they said it's best for bipolar severe depression. Once I was at the right dose, it was like a switch flipped. I could hardly believe the difference: I was pulled out of my depression, anxiety diminished, could finally sleep at night. I haven't had a depressive episode in over 2 years on Seroquel and I have never been in remission this long before. I was afraid it would make me sleepy; it only makes me tired at bedtime and I sleep soundly at night. I'm fine the next morning. My only critique would be weight gain. I lost some weight and gained it back. But, I will take stability and having gained weight over being thinner and unstable. Don't believe the horror stories: everyone is different. It changed my life."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "300 mg 4x/day. I used to have horrible hyper-vigilance, hyper-startle, anxiety, paranoia, insomnia symptoms. NOTHING (meditation, yoga, EMDR, etc.) helped that much, let alone fix it. So, the doctor said to try this. Because of my side-effect sensitivity, my doctor started me on 25 mg. That first night, I slept a full night for the first time in months. But then I started sleeping too much - up to 14 hrs a day on the weekends. We backed off to 12.5 mg & my life CHANGED. I'm under more stress right now so my dose is back to 25 mg & I'm doing great on it. It pulls me down out of that watchfulness that prevents me from doing anything but surviving (and poorly, at that). For me, after a near-lifetime of struggle, this is a miracle."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "Seroquel knocked me out so bad that I slept 18 hours... the heavy sedation effect does go away though. It did not help at all with my schizophrenia. But it did make me put on a lot of weight. Altogether, antipsychotics have made me put on a ton of weight. I've tried many of them. And I used to weigh 160 pounds and now am 220... so far that's all these drugs have done to me, they should be called fat pills."

For Bipolar Disorder "Only on week 1 of this med, but I CANNOT believe the change in my mood. I am taking this to treat bipolar 2, anxiety and poor sleep quality. I take 50mg at night and sleep like a baby. Make sure to get 8-10 hours of sleep/night and you won't feel drowsy the next morning. It's eliminated my anxiety entirely and I feel completely stabilized. I haven't had any trouble with weight gain; in fact, I've already lost a few lbs, due to the fact that I no longer feel emotionally-driven to binge eat. No side effects as far as I can tell. An ABSOLUTE MIRACLE DRUG. Just praying the results hold up."

For Schizophrenia "I used to take this drug Seroquel for 7 years. The only side effects I had was sleeping too much, no way to wake up in the morning and "still sleeping" for 1st hour of being awake. Once I threw up breakfast because my body was just not working yet. And I was always putting guilt on me, because I didn't know that this is pill side effect. I used to think I am lazy, because I couldn't wake up. When having job, I always needed someone who woke me up, because I always turned off the alarm unaware, while sleeping. Only now when I changed pills and can normally wake up I see that I am not lazy and I am very happy for that fact! Another side effect was muscles cramps in legs - when I went to bed, I couldn't stay still, I had to move my legs because of some weird "muscle tightens". This happened occasionally. The side effects were not so terrible. It didn't do any harm to mind and emotions."

For Bipolar Disorder "when I was first put on this medication in the emergency room, I was coming off heroin and my mood swings was horrific, and my anxiety was off the charts, they put me on 200 mg. immediately and was to take it 3 times a day. I was diagnosed as bipolar, ptsd severe anxiety disorder, hearing voices to kill myself, sleep disorder, among a few others. I have loved this medicine since day one almost 4 years ago. I have ended up 150 lbs. over weight, and diabetic. however one may see this, I call this my miracle pill. I wish I had been put on it as a teenager. I have told my psych don't ever try to take this away from me, I get paranoid at thinking about it. I may be fat and diabetic, but I have a good life and great family."

For Bipolar Disorder "They don't call it the demon drug for nothing. I was prescribed 25 mg in the evening for extreme irritability and "insomnia" off label. I cut it in half because I'm relatively small at 115 pounds. Knocked me out like a light. Went up to 50 mg and became nauseous, saw stars, heart palpitations, and my body felt extremely heavy. Stopped taking immediately after. Please note that the mood stabilizing effect only kicks in at a minimum dosage of 100 mg. Anything under that is a sedative, like Benadryl on steroids with the added benefit of developing akinesia and metabolic syndrome. You WILL gain weight on this drug regardless of dosage. On the bright side, it'll get rid of your allergy sniffles."

For Bipolar Disorder "the reason I'm rating this drug 10/10 is that it does not stab you in the back , and it does not ask for increased doses , it works all the time , and kicks in fast , and makes you feel euphoric combined with sleepiness. If stayed awake more than 30 minutes after taking it , you will feel hungry , so if you are worried about gaining weight just take it and sleep. Find your correct dose that works well , and remember good sleep equals good mood. If you feel sleepy the next day , thats if ' drink some coffee + 1 cup of water. And remember to do 20 minutes of exercise every day just not before going to sleep and you will feel batter 100%"

"I have never been diagnosed with any conditions for which the drug is prescribed instead I have depression. What I found out accidentally, when searching for a sleep medication was, after one or two doses, my brain felt more calm and behaviorally more balanced & less anxious. Although, a bit lethargic, dizzying and unsettling @ initial dosage and awaken next day-these symptoms do not occur after 3 weeks of 100mg @ bedtime. I have never been diagnosed with bipolar or schizophrenia."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I take 400mg fast acting seroquel for bed and it knocks me out in about forty-five minutes. Sure beats laying awake all night overthinking things. I don't know what I'd do without it, probably stay up for several days and have another manic episode. The regular seroquel works better for me as the extended release just turned me into a brainless zombie."

For Bipolar Disorder "At first, it was horrible. I felt like I was dying every time I would take it before bed, I felt as if I were to fall asleep I'd never wake up. This lasted 2 weeks maybe a month.... My body eventually adjusted to it, the voices went away. Slowly, but surely. I was also in a serious state of depression, and it takes some time but now after a little over a year of taking it, being bipolar and having countless manic and depressive episodes, Seroquel has saved my life. I've never felt like myself like I do right now in such a long time. The only dumbs down is you have to seriously monitor your weight on this thing, the pounds just pile up if you don't watch your weight carefully.."
