For Muscle Spasm "Diazepam is MUCH more effective for fibromyalgia pain. I also have 6 herniated discs, pinched/damaged nerves, and arthritis in my spine and all joints. In addition to that, I have severe, non-stop chronic tinnitus in my right ear, as well as RLS and RBD. Diazepam is the one drug that treats ALL of these conditions. 20mg at bedtime helps me sleep and lasts all day. I hate how benzodiazepines have become demonized. They are some of the safest, most studied, most effective drugs on the market. Diazepam provides people with an extremely improved quality of life where they would otherwise be suffering. SSRIs and SNRIs come with the risk of withdrawal syndrome equal to or worse than benzodiazepine withdrawal. The difference is, benzodiazepines actually work, whereas SSRIs and SNRIs are a placebo. No other drug on the market can treat so many conditions so effectively."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I am a 65-year-old male. My nurse practitioner is trying to wean me off Valium after taking it (5 mg) since I was 23, that's 43 years. It has been doing its job for me. It gave me back my life. I have extreme anxiety disorders. My original physician gave me no hassle. He passed away, and I had to get a new doctor. Things were fine until this past year when out of the blue, she recommended me getting off the drug. I never abused it, but she is adamant about it. So, I am trying, truly am. It's not going too well. I am wondering if I should find a new doctor and take my records there. I think my age has something to do with it, but getting off it is almost a nightmare. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really would like some feedback from others."

For Muscle Spasm "I have taken this medication for 10 years. I have multi-level degenerative disc disease and an autoimmune disorder. I take ten mg a night. It has stopped a lot of the muscle spasms and some of the pain along with oxycodone 30 mg a day. Never a side effect, which is more than I can say for the rest of the garbage they gave me. Now the doctors are afraid to prescribe, and I am back to trying all those horrible meds that have many side effects and no relief. I also got only 2 weeks notice before they quit prescribing it to me. After ten years, this medication is great. After working so hard at being useful and never abusing this or any other med, I do not know what to do. This medication is great for me. I know it does not deserve the bad rep it is getting."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "Excellent drug, just make sure to use it as prescribed. It is good for anxiety and also very helpful with muscle and lower back issues (slipped discs). Long-term use will need a slow taper for some people as this chemical is a GABAergic and all drugs in this class should be tapered. I have used long term with no ill effects or issues."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "Hi.. I was just reading reviews on Valium..as it's new to me. Nearly all are very positive. I'm 67..still teaching in Melbourne part-time. After COVID, the students have been a nightmare! But recently, my partner had 3 terrible falls from a severe flu. Ended up in the hospital. She has been in a bad way. But this incident triggered extreme anxiety for me...extreme! From dry reaching..non-sleeping etc. Doctors recommended antidepressants first.. After 3 different types, I nearly went over the edge! So...Valium was prescribed. I take half of a 5mg twice a day..and 5mg at night.. Besides feeling a little tired, it has been a godsend. Addictive or not, it has helped on every level of my life and helped support my partner during a very difficult time...."

Valium (diazepam) for Muscle Spasm "I’ve been on many muscle relaxants for my many ailments and nothing worked. My surgeon after my first operation put me on diazepam for the horrendous spasms that wake me in the middle of the night in severe pain, and I’ve been taking it now for years at night under close supervision. I do not have to take as much medication during the day. Works great and no side effects. I don’t take them every night just as needed."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "Valium has been a lifesaver for me. I probably wouldn't be here without it. I suffer from severe anxiety, panic disorder, and clinical depression. This has gotten me through some very bad times when I thought I was dying and couldn't cope. I take 10mg during bad spells, and it gets me through."

Valium (diazepam) for Muscle Spasm "I've taken Valium 10 mg, 2x daily for neck muscle spasms and headaches for 15 years now. This has been the most effective medication I have taken for my issue. The company I work for is now telling me that I can't take this anymore because it's on a new restricted list. Nothing else that I have taken works without having some sort of side effect."

For Muscle Spasm "I rate diazepam a '10', it's still the best & safest in its class -- but only when taken very sparingly. I liken it to a 'fire extinguisher', use only in case of emergency. If you take on a daily schedule (e.g., 3 times a day, every day) then you're making yourself a slave, and you'll be dull-witted & stupid much of the time. Just like reliance on any pill. We owe it to our families, friends, employers, and ourselves to be productive, happy, and helpful. I have the 5 mg tablets in case of emergency. It acts fast, not too strong. There's no craving for 'another pill' hours or even days later because it's very long-acting. Be smart. Use only in case of a real emergency and it's the best."

For Anxiety "I'm a 74-year-old Vietnam vet. I've had moderate anxiety issues since 1970. I didn't go on Diazepam until 1975. I've been on it ever since. It changed my life. I was able to have a very successful career and productive life. I've been in and out of therapy off and on over the years. It did not really help. The only thing that keeps me calm and functional is the once-a-day 5mg dose of diazepam. I would like to get off it and have tried several times without success. My anxiety level ramps up to the point where it's not manageable. This is probably the only major drawback. I have not experienced any bothersome issues or side effects. It has been a lifesaver for me. I've never had to increase the dosage after all these years."

Valium (diazepam) for Muscle Spasm "My muscle spasms in my spine were caused by injury. They have gotten worse with age. BUT, I had doctors who listened. I cannot take 'pain' pills or even NSAIDs. And because of the injury to my head, aspirin in large doses. Valium was prescribed by three neurologists but in low doses. The reviews I have read that are negative to Valium have the patients taking doses WAY too high. They are creating zombies. I take 6 mg a day—and it works, and I have lived with this spine pain—on a cane—for many years. They cannot 'cure' it, but Valium has made it possible for me to stay out of a wheelchair. The doctors who overprescribe are CREATING a problem for the patient. It is a very effective medication, cheap, and with very mild side effects."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I had ended up in the ER a few times with weird problems like not being able to catch my breath and hyperventilating before I even knew they were panic attacks. They started me on Ativan, but it made me so hyper and loopy I literally forgot a few days. So when I was put on Valium, it was a godsend. It prevents and treats panic attacks without the loopy feeling, and it doesn't affect my ability to perform daily activities. So I'd recommend it to anyone seeking this type of help."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I have been taking it sparingly for years, just 1 (max. 2) mg to send me asleep when stressed out and anxious, nowadays, with horrible tinnitus. The longest I took it was 6 days on the trot for extreme anxiety. It helps to calm down my stomach, the life-sapping stress response in the body. Then, I have a big break, try to use some of the CBT techniques I learned, then again, when it gets too much. It saved my ass many times. In the meantime, drink herbal teas (Melissa, nettle, Valerian) and try to exercise (walking, cycling) and eat healthy foods (lots of vegetables, fruit in moderation and organic meats, nuts, seeds, unpasteurized cheese, etc.). I am so pleased that it is helping other people. There are times when you just cannot do it on your own. It can be hard, but I hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I used to get severe panic attacks quite often. I started taking 10mg of Valium three times daily as prescribed by my psychiatrist, and after a year, my dose has decreased to 5mg and I have never had another panic attack. Anxiety attacks (or panic attacks) are very scary. I had made many trips to the emergency room thinking I was having a heart attack. I had symptoms like sweating, tingling in arms and legs, cold chills in the face, and a rapid heartbeat, feeling of hysteria, and wishing I would just die and get it over with. Valium saved my life. It is very effective, and I am grateful it works."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I've started with Xanax. It wasn't long-acting for me, and I didn't want to increase the dose. Then after a year, I went to Klonopin, and it was better. I had a great doctor that I told about my muscle soreness in my neck that I've had since I can remember. So, after about a year, I switched to Valium. Best decision. I never take more than directed, as I know my tolerance is getting higher. It helped me stop medicating with alcohol. A new doctor wants me off of it. I'm already in pain with intestinal problems and infections. I'm a pharmacy technician, and I work in retail. But, like the above commenter, the doctors need to do what we are taught in college. Ask yourself, does the benefit outweigh risks? With this medication, heck yes! It's a shame we have to fight to get help, but don't stop fighting. Everyone deserves a quality of life. This medicine helps me live my life."

Valium (diazepam) for Alcohol Withdrawal "Was struggling with moderate to severe alcohol withdrawal symptoms, was prescribed Valium after a GP's visit as I was sure that otherwise it would have been A&E. Cleared up 90% of the worst symptoms, some are still present but have been minimized. Was a lifesaver for me as before I booked the appointment I considered more alcohol as I couldn't handle the 'fear', weird heart rate, and constant tremors. At its peak, the symptoms and anxiety combined made me feel like I was going to die."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I'm 21 years old and have terrible social anxiety, hypochondria, GAD, and night terrors. I've tried Xanax, Klonopin, and Ativan for my anxiety. Xanax didn't last long enough, Klonopin gave me moodiness, and Ativan did nothing. My doctor gives me Diazepam (Valium) 5 mg four times a day and it's a miracle. I can't tell you how tremendously Valium has improved my life. I'm constantly mellow now, can think straight, and sleep restfully at night. The effects also last all day and keep me anxiety-free. Valium has definitely given me my life back!"

Valium (diazepam) for Muscle Spasm "I have fibromyalgia and an undiagnosed connective tissue disorder, and this medicine has helped me with spasms and pain, as well as trigger points reduction. Currently using it for an anxiety med as well, this medicine has helped with all of the above at the same time, taking the place of numerous medications. I feel this should be used as a substitute for multiple meds to reduce the amount of potential interactions and unnecessary additional medications."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I have major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and anxiety. I take two antidepressants and Buspar and Valium for anxiety. I have begun taking 10 mg of Valium several times a day, and it helps calm my million-mile-an-hour brain. I wish I didn't have to take so much medication, but to live a normal daily life, they are necessary."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I try not to use them often, I usually just try to put up with my anxiety because I don't want to go on antidepressants as none of them have worked for my anxiety and made my mood worse. So I find Valium when I really need it fantastic, it is quick and no side effects for me. It's a pity the doctors don't like prescribing it, people who abuse it make it hard for someone like me who really needs it in times of severe anxiety."

Valium (diazepam) for Muscle Spasm "My new GP has been recommending Valium for over a year for chronic mid-back/facet joint pain and intermittent neck pain (bad discs from C3-C5) and sciatica/torn labrum at right hip, but I resisted her recommendation. The chronic back pain flares every night, and often wakes me up and forces me out of bed. It takes several hours for the pain to recede every morning, which is demoralizing. Three nights ago I started taking 5 mg of Valium at bedtime, and each morning I've awakened with less and less pain so that I'm hardly taking any pain medication during the day. Fingers crossed that I can continue to take this dose at bedtime - the other testimonials on this website are giving me hope that this might be the case! Hallelujah!"

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I love this medication, and it frustrates me that it is shunned upon so heavily by most doctors and mental health practitioners. It's true, the withdrawals can be incredibly bad, but if not abused, this medication is a godsend for those with anxiety. I have strong mood issues, and while I try to meditate, exercise, eat small regular meals, keep busy, and be active, etc., which helps most days, sometimes it just doesn't cut it when I'm having extreme anxiety and just need to relax. I was prescribed 5mg for travel (panic attacks flying), but I cut that into 1/4 and just take 1.25mg occasionally here and there when I need it. That's all you need, and I find it does the job amazingly."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "My experience with this drug has been overwhelmingly positive. I suffer from panic attacks, as well as agoraphobia, and despite having been on Valium for many years now, it has retained its efficacy and it has greatly enhanced the quality of my life. Frankly, I do not know what I would do without it. Yes, yes, yes, I am all too well aware of the numerous warnings and tales of woe which have accompanied usage of this drug by other individuals less fortunate than myself, but I can only speak to what this drug has done for MY life. I am now 51 years old, and have taken this drug on and off for most of my adult life, starting when I was 18 years old. I become angry when I read proposals to limit prescription of this drug to psychiatrists..."

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "I've experienced anxiety attacks/panic attacks for the last 2 years. It started off slowly with attacks, then they started getting more frequent. Worried so much that I got rushed to the hospital 3 times for over breathing. Anyway, I work as a miner and I have to fly a lot. Because my anxiety was getting worse I started getting attacks in the air that were freaking me out so I went to my doctor. He put me on 5mg of Valium, and I tell you what, I've never felt better. Just calms me down and relaxes me. I can't remember the last time I had a panic attack. It's great :)"

Valium (diazepam) for Anxiety "It's early days for me taking Valium, but I have noticed a general sense of well-being. I think that if you REALLY need this drug, then it's a blessing. I was suffering from post-operative depression and long-term anxiety issues. I don't feel like I'm zoned out or in some kind of vegetative state. I'm functionally normal, but with a greater sense of calmness. Before taking Valium, it was like I had a million things bouncing around in my head or like I was in a sweet shop with a mind racing around as to what lollies I wanted. I have heard negative things about Valium, but I am convinced that if you genuinely need this drug, then it's a wonderful thing. I give it the thumbs up."
