"Afraid of getting a cold, even sniffles, before a hip replacement (Nov 2016), astragalus was recommended by a long time user. I usually have 3-4 respitory bouts a year. Now in March 2018 I have not had even one cold. Neither any kind of reaction or problem. If a tickle in the throat begins, I take another caplet (in addition of the 2 daily caplets) plus a zinc throat lozenge and it is gone in a few hours. I am female, 71, active, busy life, have no chronic medications or conditions."
