Seriously, I got a box of it and it says 1200mg guaifenesin per pill, is this the norm for daily intake?

As someone who's taken large doses of Mucinex Max Power DM Extended Release I didn't experience any serious problems until I took 8.4 grams (8400 mg) of guaifenesin. If I were you I would take nowhere near this amount and personally I will never do it again and haven't done it for a long time. However, this experience will hopefully make anyone comfortable to take the NORMAL dose for this medication. Don't take more than 2 pills in 24 hours like the bottle/box says and you won't have to worry about anything. The only side effect you may feel is very slight nausea, but you shouldn't even feel that with 2 in 24 hours if you have normalish body weight and eat after taking the medication.

I saw a new pulmonologist last week for my COPD. He suggested I double my dose of 600mg Mucinex to 1200mg each 12 hours.
The Mucinex at 600 mg helped my copd Mucus problem immediately like a miracle. I now actually get a full night sleep with no mucus problems. I will buy the 1200 mg soon.
I need help about the generic in that I am concerned if the generic does not have to 12 hour dose and what the difference will be if I try it

Always ask your physician prior to introducing any medication or herbal supplement to your protocol. There could be negative interactions. Different dosages and different strengths are designed for different medical issues for both short and long acting drugs. Consult your physician. Additionally, you may research possible side effects.

I have the 600mg box but it also comes in the strength you have and the most you are suppose to take is 1 (1200mg dose tablet) twice a day 12 hours apart no more than that

I was sure I saw a box of 1200mg guaifenesin but I am not so sure I think there is another Mucinex besides the Mucinex 600mg (maybe Mucinex DM) anyway here are the directions on the 600mg box 1 or 2 tablets every 12 hours so that would be no more than 2400mg per 24 hours. and the only ingredient it has in it is guaifenesin.

I haven't tried it for that (the shoulder and back) you let me know how it works with you and if you get any relief then I am willing to try, I had never heard of that but if it helps that would sure be great

I haven't used it long enough to really know, I started using it then last month we had a 7 inch snow with a heavy ice storm as well I got out and fell once I did that it threw the vertrebraes in my back into a mess (fractured 4 of them) and a disk so once this settles down some I intend to try again and see.

I believe this site suggest 600 mg for fibromyalgia. But, don't cut it in two as it is time released. It also says on the box you can take up to 2 at a time so you should be ok taking 1200 mg. I just started trying this yesterday, and if it's a quick acting cure, it hasn't helped me at all., My hubby told me to give it a few days or a week. I bought a 10 day supply of 20 pills, so we'll see! Guess I'm the guiena pig! Good luck if you are going to try it too. Let me know if it helps!

I bought a box of Mucinex which wasn't cheap mind you. 1200 mg guaifenesen extended release 12 hour lasting. I researched this in depth last night and apparently two things have to happen for this to work. 1. You need to try it for at least a month 2. Must stay away from Salicylates (which in my opinion is near impossible!). I'm going to order the book, it came out in 1999 and he himself has Fibro... i'm still on the fence i think Fibro might be a dumping pool for "we don't know what the F is wrong and can't figure out how to diagnose you so go be confused and angry and take a bunch of pills so we can keep making money off this thing we can't diagnose scientifically".
"In his book, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia: The Revolutionary Treatment That Can Reverse the Disease" Paul St. Amand, M.D. writes about how he discovered that the drug guaifenesin can actually give patients the possibility of reversing fibromyalgia. However, for guaifenesin to work, one must eliminate all sources of salicylates (a chemical compound that blocks the effectiveness of guaifenesin.) Salicylates can be found in many common things that people use. He calls his method of reversing fibromyalgia, "the guaifenesin protocol."

Thanks for all the info. Will try to get the book. Good luck to you. I just read a great article on Web MD about the food connection which really has me wondering also since I have so many food allergies. Guess lots of things can trigger it. You might want to check out that article. It's under the Fibromyalgia heading.
