Ciclopirox topical Pregnancy Warnings

Ciclopirox has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of fetal harm. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Ciclopirox should only be used during pregnancy when need has been clearly established.

There are no data on the excretion of ciclopirox topical into human milk. Because ciclopirox is not absorbed, little excretion would be expected. The manufacturer recommends that caution be used when administering ciclopirox to nursing women.
