What is chloroprocaine ophthalmic?

Chloroprocaine ophthalmic (for the eyes) is used in adults to numb the eyes for a planned procedure.

Chloroprocaine ophthalmic may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Chloroprocaine ophthalmic side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Chloroprocaine ophthalmic may cause serious side effects. Call your doctor at once if you have:

• vision changes.

Common side effects of chloroprocaine ophthalmic may include:

• dilated pupils;

• severe eye redness; or

• discomfort of the eye.

This medication can cause numbness. Use caution to avoid injury before the feeling has returned completely.

Apply 3 drops topically as needed

Comments:
-Apply it to the ocular surface where anesthesia is required.
-May be reapplied as needed to maintain anesthetic effect.
