Hattr amyloidosis is an abbreviation for a rare condition called Hereditary transthyretin-mediated (hATTR) amyloidosis. hATTR amyloidosis gets worse with time and is characterized by the deposition of amyloid fibrils (insoluble fibers) in various organs and tissues of the body. Symptoms of hATTR amyloidosis can vary significantly among individuals so it is often misdiagnosed or it takes a long time to diagnose. It is estimated 50,000 individuals have hATTR amyloidosis worldwide.
