Depakene (valproic acid) "I wouldn't give this to my worst enemy. The side effects are so severe that they outweigh any benefit regarding seizure control. After 2 years on this medication, I was a walking zombie."

Depakene (valproic acid) "The side effects of this drug were so harsh I didn't stick around for its alleged benefits, i.e. seizure prevention. "

"I had 2 seizures whilst being on an antipsychotic. My doctor prescribed me this and I haven’t had a seizure in years. I’ll give it a 9 though as I get shakes or tremors occasionally."

"My 13 year old has been on this medicine for seizure prevention after he reached 2 seizures a week; It's been 2 years since we started, and it's been great! Almost seizure free; He only had 1 seizure after watching the incredible 2 movie- I didn't know that the movie warned to be seizure prone. Aside from that episode, it's been great. Note that it also stabilized his mood- no more uncontrollable tantrums( he is also autistic)."
