For Hashimoto's disease "Started taking Niva 2 months ago. No comparison to NP Thyroid. My hair is no longer so dry it breaks off. No anxiety or panic attacks. Leg cramps and headaches are gone. I highly recommend NIVA THYROID."

For Hashimoto's disease "Every 3 - 5 years there is a shortage of natural porcine thyroid. This time, Armour, NP, Nature-Throid and a few other brands got hit. This infuriating situation is caused by an FDA rule, stating: all USA meds must be within 10% of labeled potency. This rule makes no sense for porcine thyroid. Porcine thyroid is a natural mix of 4 hormones. It is not a drug. Pigs do not monitor their thyroids, and human thyroids don't care if the potency varies by 20%. The ratio of the 4 hormones is more important. The pigs will meet this criteria. God bless pigs. When I tried Levothyroxine (branded Synthroid), I felt horrible and almost died. Blood tests show that I can't convert T4. I feel normal and well using most brands of natural porcine thyroid. But, I am now forced to try a new brand (Niva) that I'm not sure is natural porcine thyroid. If Niva's preparation is not natural porcine thyroid, in 2-3 months I will be very ill or dead (I also have Addison's disease and Crohn's disease). I will try to report back in 2-3 months."
