For Constipation, Acute "I had been suffering from severe constipation that couldn't be cured even with laxatives for 2 weeks until my doctor recommended Miralax. I took it with no real progress for 3 days, but on the 4th day, I finally started having normal bowel movements! I did not experience any side effects whatsoever as you do with laxatives. (No diarrhea, gas, bloating, sudden urgency, etc.). I finally had complete relief! Also, I mixed Miralax with cranberry juice. It had virtually no taste and dissolves completely. I highly recommend this to anyone suffering from constipation."

For Constipation "My colorectal surgeon prescribed MiraLAX to help with severe constipation that has been a problem for me since birth. I have an illness that causes nerve damage which has altered the proper functioning of the intestinal tract. I have had great success with MiraLAX and have a much better quality of life now. I was reluctant to use other laxatives before for fear of dependence, but my doctor assures me MiraLAX does not cause dependence. I'm very pleased."

For Constipation, Acute "Some parts of this review may be TMI - so you are forewarned - but I am hoping to help anyone in my shoes. I have had constipation issues since I was 18 (40 now) lately, it has been getting so severe that I ended up in the ER with severely impacted stool (twice). That was a nightmare. I don't like prescription medication so dr told me to try Miralax once a day. Man, this has been a life saver. If I notice my stools are too soft, I will skip the next day and take it the day after. I mix a capful with Gatorade, I let it sit in the fridge for about half hour and when I see it's all dissolved, down the hatch it goes. No taste and works wonders!"

For Constipation "A few years back I was hospitalized with a bowel obstruction. Once I left the hospital, my bowel movements have been irregular. I couldn't make a movement in over 3 weeks. I was force to take stool softeners (which never worked) and Dulcalax laxatives (which did worked but I became constipated after it wore off) I went to the doctor and they suggest I try Miralax. I gave it a try, when 1 day past, it only gave me gas. 2nd day past, more gas. On the 3rd day with Miralax, I was able to have a bowel movement. I was very happy because, when I take Dulcolax I had cramps and had to have the toilet on standby all day. Miralax was a painless soft stool which relieved pressure of constipation. And I started having regular movements."

For Constipation "I had been constipated for as long as I could remember. I would have a bowel motion maybe once every 2-3 weeks. So not normal. My diet consisted of high fiber, 100 oz of water a day, fruits, veggies, but still no bowel motion. I have tried cleansers, laxatives, and other products, but nothing. I recently began doing colonic irrigations because I was so frustrated. My doc suggested I try Miralax. The first day I took some in the morning, and the second day I took some more. By that evening of the second day, I had a bowel motion. I couldn't believe it. After all this time, it was Miralax that did the job. Thanks, Miralax. I would recommend this to anyone."

For Constipation "Schering-Plough announced on March 28, 2007 that prescription-strength MiraLAX® (polyethylene glycol 3350) is now available as an over-the-counter treatment for occasional constipation. The innovative formula of MiraLAX works with the body to increase the frequency of bowel movements without causing the side effects of cramps and gas. MiraLAX allows a comfortable, easy and complete bowel movement. MiraLAX has a strong safety profile and is not known to be habit-forming."

For Constipation "Miralax is great. First day was the only time I experienced any side effects, and that was only a headache. After that, I've been taking it every day at night in a glass of water. It doesn't taste like anything and dissolves quickly. Works great, too. I've always had constipation, but recently I was having constant pain and bleeding with every bowel movement due to a fissure, it was horrible. But now that my doctor recommended Miralax to me, I finally feel normal in that department!"

For Constipation "I have used everything on the market, even changing my diet, more water, and fiber and I was still struggling. I saw Miralax at first I thought, na, just more bad tasting powder. I decided to buy it what could I lose. I am amazed. I feel so much better, an no nasty taste. I put it in my coffee, orange juice, even soda. So easy to use. Thank you for making it over the counter now."

For Bowel Preparation "I've used Miralax in the past for occasional constipation and it works well. For a recent colonoscopy, I had a problem with unusual constipation, so the doctor wanted me to do extra prep, so he had me drink seven glasses of Miralax the morning before the procedure. Later in the early evening, I had to start the regular foul-tasting prep drink. I can barely get that stuff down. Miralax has no taste. I was able to mix it with plain water and drink it with no problem. It's the easiest colonoscopy prep there is. The next time I have a colonoscopy, I'm going to insist that Miralax (along with Dulcolax tablets) is the only prep I have to drink."

For Constipation, Acute "I recently had a laparoscopic hysterectomy. As some of you may know, anesthesia from surgery can cause the bowels to basically just stop moving. Add to this the trauma of surgery in a nearby region, combined with taking narcotics, and I was MISERABLE. It took 3 days for it to work, but when it did it was a major miracle. I did not realize constipation could be so bad you'd consider that you might DIE. Miralax not only works, but it does not give you the horrible sick cramps you get with stimulant laxatives. Just the best ever."

For Constipation "I've had constipation problems for years. It runs in my family. About ten years ago I had to have major hemorrhoid surgery, both internal and external, and things have been going downhill since. After having kidney stones and the doctor could not see them on X-rays because of impaction in my intestines my urologist suggested Miralax. I had taken Ducolax, two different types of laxatives but was made sick each time because both produced violent reactions but both worked well. Miralax was the answer. A miracle."

For Constipation "I started with very, very hard stool (Bristol Scale = 1) like mini-cannonballs. By the 3rd dose of MiraLax my stool was normal--just came sliding out without any strain on my part. I took a 4th daily dose to be sure, and I still feel good- so I'm going to stop now. No side effects except a minor grumbling in the stomach. I heartily recommend this medication to anyone suffering from hard stool."

For Constipation "I have tried a number of different stool softeners to no avail and was starting to rely on regular doses of laxatives to get relief from constipation. My doctor finally recommended MiraLAX. I took it once a day for 5 days and now take it once every other day, and I am back on a normal schedule. It is easy to take, tasteless, and gives relief."

For Constipation "Love Miralax! After my first semester of dining hall food in college, I was messed up BAD. I had to start using laxatives for relief, and they really bloated me out. My doctor recommended Miralax, and the rest is history. I’ve never been regular, but as long as I drink enough water, I have no problem getting a bowel movement with this! That’s also something my doctor said.......STAY HYDRATED. Miralax is an osmotic type laxative and really only works if you are drinking enough liquids!! It takes one dose at night for me to have a movement around lunch the next day! If I haven’t been drinking a lot, then it usually takes 3-4 days of continual use for me to get a movement....and those are always loose. Otherwise, they are easy to pass and healthy quality."

For Constipation "I took the normal adult dosage of Miralax because the medication I’m on for my Gastroparesis is making me constipated. Here it is around 4 hours later and I’m nauseous, dizzy, my heart rate is up over 100, and my stomach hurts. Plus I am still constipated. I’m laying in bed on a sunny, beautiful day when I could be outside because I can’t even lift my head up off my pillow without being dizzy and nauseous. I’m never taking this stuff again!!"

For Constipation "I take opiates every day, and a side effect of this is severe constipation. I would often go weeks without having a bowel movement. When I did go, it was painful and required a lot of work and time. I have tried other solutions and MiraLax is the best by far. I took one cap full every day and on the second day I had a small bowel movement. I kept taking it and the very next day I had the first normal bowel movement in years. No cramping, no straining and no pain. I cannot recommend MiraLax enough. It is so gentle, yet works so well! If you suffer with constipation don't suffer anymore! Try MiraLax!"

For Constipation "After experiencing constipation for several days, I woke up one morning with a physical problem that I was certain would require not only medical attention but also surgical removal. Even though my doctor assured me I would be okay, I was still skeptical. He advised that I should take Miralax every 3 hours until I have a "cleansing bowel movement". After my second dose, I had success. Now I take 1 dose every other night. I highly recommend this product."

For Constipation "I had a bowel obstruction from using lasix, and not drinking enough water. I was admitted for surgery scheduled the next morning. But before the surgery I did use three small bottles under dr. Supervision in hospital, and my bowel obstruction miraculously untested! Today, four years later I am constipated from vicodin. I used miralax today... And my pains went away and I was able to go ."

For Constipation "I've suffered from chronic constipation my entire 42 years on earth. I could easily go 3-4 weeks without having a BM. That is not healthy and certainly NOT normal. I was deployed to Africa last fall and knew I would be in a world of hurt if I didn't get something to take with me. Laxatives/stool softeners never worked so I grabbed a bottle of Miralax to try. I am so very glad I did. This product saved my life and allowed me to focus on the mission (treating Ebola infected healthcare personnel) rather than becoming a patient myself because of severe abdominal pain. I am able to have a BM several times a day now without pain or abdominal discomfort at all. My doctor has given me a prescription for it which makes it even better."

For Constipation "I have had chronic constipation since I was a little girl, I am now 30. I've tried ALL types of medications as well as different herbal supplements which only gave temporary relief. And when I say chronic I mean CHRONIC! Senna, prunes, even the hitious citrate magnesium was sometimes NOT working. FINALLY Miralax came along and changed or I should say regulated my BM function. At first it didn't work very well I just felt bloated and over stuffed, which I guess was okay because I ate less. However, once things started moving with the help of plenty of water life feels SO much better. I know to take it first thing in the morning and let it settle for a few minutes before I give my stomach anything else to work on. So I say give it time to work."

For Bowel Preparation "This is my 3rd colonoscopy in 2 years. Here are my experiences: 1st one-I used Suprep liquid and thought I was going to die. The taste was rough but the chills, cramping, and the inability to move 2 feet from the toilet for hours almost did me in. It took days to recover. 2nd-I tried Suprep pills. They were SUPER expensive but easier to get down. Still had major chills, nausea, and cramps and the result was much the same. The pills seemed to take longer to work & I was worried that it would not finish in time. 3rd-the MiraLax prep was the best! Gatorade made the flavor tolerable. I was able to drink it with no problem. I kept waiting for the drama but it never came. I did the suggested soft foods the week before and included the 2 Dulcolax tabs at the beginning and 2 in the middle. The bathroom time was as expected but no cramping or chills. Zero issues, procedure was flawless, and I feel great."

For Constipation "I've been dealing with a chronic GI problem for about 3 months. It caused me to some times because unreliable/loose when going to the bathroom. So I went on the B.R.A.T diet for a little too long and it got me backed up pretty bad. I tried Dulcolax but it didn't do too much. My doctor decided I try the last step and take a dose of Miralax. I mixed it in a full bottle of 100% juice and all the terrible pain and bloating I had went right away a couple hours later. No cramping or anything, just mild stomach growling. This is a miracle!"

For Constipation "After major surgery in 2010 my doctor told me to start using Miralax. I have used it daily every day since then. I was told to never strain during a bm again. Along with is this I eat 25 grams of fiber in my cereal every morning, a serving of prunes (7), one 5 gram of fiber protein bar, 2 fiber capsules, and drink 6-8 glasses of water ever day and finish the day with an apple for the pectin. And I cannot stop any of these items or I have problems. I do not have any blockages and have a colonoscopy every 3 years. Miralax places an important part and my doctor has no issues with me continuing to take it."

For Constipation "I have had constipation for years, tried so many things. This was prescribed to me even though I'd tried it on my own over-the-counter. I decided to use it everyday and see what happens. I did not use it alone, I was also using natural supplements like cascara sagrada and Senna. I have found that I have to switch it up because whatever regimen I am using stops working after a while. I am here reading these comments because after using Miralax for about 2 months everyday. I started having urinary incontinence. I have a constant pressure in my bladder and I have to go to the restroom more often. Also when I need to go I can't hold it, it's very uncomfortable if I try. I was working for constipation, that's why I had been using it everyday. I was already checked for infection, UTI, and other issues. So because of that I started to think about what I was doing differently. It was this Miralax, it is affecting my bladder. I just hope it's reversible."
