"I have had some pretty bad side effects including weakness to the point of falling, extreme fatigue (to the point of not being able to walk at all and eventually falling into a depression). The moment I began to wean myself off the medicine, I immediately regained my strength and everything changed for the better. I did of course inform my doctor and did this gradually over 2 weeks."

"So I've been on metoprolol for over a year. Not knowing until very recently that this medicine has been giving me horrible side effects the entire time. Within the last 6 months those side effects worsened to the point of dropping my BP so low that I felt dumb or slow, confused, couldn't think straight, almost in a dream like daze. Problems sleeping, anxiety went through the roof, panic attacks multiple times a day, pain in my chest, pain in my arm, short of breath laying down, just all the way around feeling OFF. Would give this medicine 0/10 also I only take 25mg and this medicine seems to very dramatically affect me when I mess with the dosing. Also it has been dropping my BP to 80/60 an when that happens is when all of the symptoms get exaggerated"

Metoprolol Succinate ER (metoprolol) "I was given Metropolol succinate ER 25mg one time daily. My gut said don't do it. But I was in afib with rates up to 170 when exercising. Resting was 88 to 94. I'm allergic to many drugs now that it scared me . I finally decided to take it. It was a low dose, so any side effects should be minimal I was told, if any at all. I took it at 1030pm, it made me drowsy, I was also by 11pm. I woke up at 230am with feeling like I was on fire from the inside out! My ears literally felt like they were going to melt off. I knew I needed to check for welts, I went to move my sheet, and my arms felt like they were full of lead. I fell right back to sleep. I woke back up at 830am with no symptoms other than my head, ears, nose were itching. That cleared up within two hours. I called my hosp pharmacy and told fire feeling was a huge reaction, not to take any more, duh lol, and that the medicine had crossed my brain barrier. You may do good with it and I hope it helps!"

"I took toprolol as a kid for a type of heart Failure. My doctor said it was same as what athletes get at age 29 I had been switched to Metoprolol 50mg once daily. After a few years a new doctor took me off of it and I began jumping awake gasping for air. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and put on a CPAP. It never helped I Kept having it, turned up until the pressure was wide open. but still I jumped awake at nights. My doctor was beside himself with what to do and finally I was placed back on the Metoprolol 50Mg and in two weeks my sleep Apnea disappeared."

"I started on 50 mg which caused me to go to ER. My BP dropped. I was dizzy and faint. Whenever I got up, I was so dizzy. After about a week, the dizziness was still there but I tried to manage it. I would get up to do daily normal takes. I could for about 5 mins then my heart would race. I love baths but after a warm bath, I was so dizzy it took at least 30 mins to calm down. I’m currently try a 1/2 of 25 mg. All the dizziness is not as bad. This is my fourth day. If it gets better, I’ll update."

"Effective in dropping resting heart rate into sub-60 range, so it has helped me meet my goal. Don't take this stuff lightly - you may even need to cut dosing amount if it exceeds what is actually needed for the correct therapeutic result."

"I’ve been taking this drug and later Entresto which both caused me to the ER 3 times. I felt like I was going to faint, dizzy and imbalanced. I only felt good laying down. I couldn’t work or cook no more that a few mins. It’s been 3 months. I called my doctor to see if I could take metoprolol at night. I was taking it on an empty stomach in the morning with all of my other meds. I decided to take my other drugs in the morning and metoprolol at around 8pm after eating a snack. To my surprise, I woke without any dizziness on Saturday. Sunday, I had mild dizziness getting up too quickly. I was able to do some cleaning and cooking. I was weak but I attributed that to being in bed for 3 months. Today is Monday. I had a very good day initial I took a hot shower and felt dizzy. However, this is good news for me. Right now, the ratings will be low until I’m sure it’s good for me."

"I was diagnosed with heart failure and was prescribed metoprolol more than 16 years ago! I also was briefly on Coreg (carvedilol), a more effective heart medication, in my opinion, but I couldn't take the side effects, including the racing heart and the nervousness. Let's face it, most medications cause side effects, some more serious than others, because of this asked my cardiologist to allow me to take all of my heart meds at night, which made a huge difference in my being anxious, dizzy, and lightheaded during day."

"Lowers heart rate effectively due to a mildly englarged left ventricle wall due to hyperparathyroidism induced hypertension. It decreases heart rate work load and lowers blood pressure & I feel better."
