Skelaxin (metaxalone) "Episodic incidences of serious back spasms and pain due to having herniated discs of L4 and L5. Skelaxin relieves the spasms so I get back to somewhat normal in as short as time as possible without feeling drugged out and tired. It works so far as to what it was prescibed for."

"I have had all my PARAthyroid and thyroid heads removed. Therefore I have severe tetany seizures often. I was taking flexaril but due to insurance issues had to switch. Went to xanaflex which did not work as well but still helped quit a lot but I was tired a lot. Dr switched me to Metaxalone and it does not help at all. I have 800 mg and each time I take it the spasms might let up slightly but still continue. Not happy with this switch and will ask dr to put me on something else next week."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) "Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasms worked great when I first started taking it. But as with all my meds, my body has become immune to it. It still helps some but not as much. Over all... I think it is a great medicine for muscle spasms. I have Fibromyalgia, but I can't tell that it helps any with that."

"This med really decreases the muscle spasms I get in my foot following a bunionectomy and 2 nervectomies all on the same foot. The only side effect that I experience is an extremely dry mouth which I can handle."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) "I just had back surgery for a ruptured disc three weeks ago and my surgeon perscribed me Skelaxin to help the the remnants of muscle spasms I was still having. I was expecting it to knock me out but I was actually able to study for an exam and I was virtually pain and spasm free."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) "I have fibromyalgia as well as muscle spasms related to lordosis and to an orthopedic problem, as well as dysmenorrhea. Skelaxin is my rescue medicine. If I get a calf spasm in the bad leg that a hot pack and some stretching won't subdue, half a Skelaxin will do the trick, no sedation, just good work. I'd give it a ten if it weren't so very expensive! When I have the very bad cramping related to my menstrual period, 100 mg of tramadol and 400 mg of skelaxin will make me drowsy and unfocused, but it means that while I can still tell I'm cramping, it's like someone shouting inside a house while you stand outside, and I can get on with things as needed."

"Was prescribed for back issues (3 fusions) and out walking in snow, boom fell on a icy steps. Shoulder literally popped out of socket and arm just dangling. Moved a bit and arm went back into socket. Just healed from another shoulder injury so Skelaxin should help."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) "My dr prescribed this to help with some muscle spasms I had related to TMJ. It works wonderfully for this condition. However, I recently pulled some muscles in my back shoveling snow. I used this drug to help try and alleviate some of the muscle spasms, but it did not work as well on this larger group of muscles."

"Was on this med 3x a day for 4 months post back surgery. The entire last month developed severe diarrhea, several times a day, thought I picked up some kind of bacterial or parasite !! I decided to stop the med and within 2 days stool back to normal. Took 4 months until started to develop a problem."

"Unfortunately Flexeril did nothing to relax stiff muscles from Chronic spinal stenosis nor Fibromyalgia. Side effects of nausea, headache and unpleasant confusion and general dysphoria. No where near as effective as Benzodiazepines."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) "I've been taking Skelaxin for my back & neck aches, hip pain, & head pain for years. It works well for my pain. Though it's expensive, so I usually break my tablets in halves in order to save."
