"I have an anxiety disorder and was prescribed this a few days ago for acid reflux. I feel like my anxiety has gone through the roof, I feel terrible and I'm wondering if it is this drug now that I read all of your comments! I will stop it immediately. I have fast heartbeat, shaking and hand are hot, and a headache. :("

"Like anyone experiencing these symptoms would think they were having a heart attack or something, and so I did. I went straight to the ER and my ECG was totally normal. I did a battery of tests, including Echocardiogram, Ergometric test, Holter monitor, and none of them found anything. Clinically I am healthy, without any heart problems. I suspected it was the medication two weeks ago, when on the days that I had to have blood drawn for the exams and had to fast, ironically I didn't feel any of the main symptoms, which would be Extreme Dizziness to extreme tiredness and pain in the stomach. chest/arm/shoulder that decreased. Discovering this I started looking for reviews about the drug and found this forum which confirmed my suspicions. 2nd part"

"I'd taken this in the past but didn’t realize it could’ve been why I’d been having so many awful symptoms. This time I was feeling better when I started it so I definitely noticed. I was having super bad fatigue, it was hard to get up in the morning or make it through the day, anxiety and racing thoughts, hair loss, diarrhea, generally just feeling super awful and unwell. I stopped taking it last night and actually felt like I could wake up today. I’d had to switch to caffeine pills and those stopped working, I was worried I’d have to get back on Ritalin for fatigue before I put it together and realized it was this, and I’m glad I did."

"In the first week that I stopped, on the second day the acid returned with everything, I managed to cope well, because my diet was well controlled, the dizziness disappeared on the third day, and in the next weeks I only lived with the pain in the chest/arm/ shoulder, and an increase in acidity, in addition to anxiety, and blood pressure still changed (this with two weeks without using.) From time to time I feel some pain in my stomach because I know that my gastritis and bulboduodenitis are still not completely cured for not completing the three months of treatment. The drug did help to improve the symptoms of my gastritis, but it made me extremely worse in many other aspects of my health. If you are experiencing the same symptoms that I am experiencing, please re-evaluate and see if you can avoid using this medication, depending on the person it can really give you several side effects. 3th part"

"Was prescribed for acid reflux / indigestion. Originally tried Prilosec and Pepcid complete which made me feel slightly better however not enough. After a day of taking it almost all my symptoms were gone except for a slight tightness in chest from the acid reflux. My suggestion for anybody taking this where their symptoms are pretty severe is to take it once in the morning and then eat breakfast an hour after and during lunch and dinner (Or eating something was red meat or spicy or acidly) I would take a Pepcid complete also (which can be taken twice a day) and then if necessary then taking another esomeprazole at night before bed but in my experience that was never necessary. There is also a 80mg dose if symptoms don’t improve. The only thing worth mentioning is that it can make any other medication your taking last a bit longer because esomeprazole makes it take longer to digest."

"Let's begin with the positive aspects of the drug. It does reduce the frequency of GERD flare-ups and the constant acid reflux spilling into your throat, in addition to mitigating the concomitant shortness of breath. This condition is very difficult to deal with, so reducing the symptoms is a welcome relief. However, the cost of this is nigh on intolerable. Here were my side effects. Constant loose stools, and when you're already suffering from IBS-D this is not remotely helpful. Agonising stomach cramps which last all day and are even worse when you're hungry. I'm not kidding when I say it literally feels like you're being punched in the stomach from the inside. Interrupted sleep, I would keep waking up in the middle of the night. Brain fog and general fatigue. And if you're prone to depression and anxiety, this medication will absolutely amplify that to the nth degree. Not worth it and I'd suggest looking for alternatives, but your mileage may vary."

"I have taken Esomperazole several times but today the side effect was horrible. It triggered psychosis, I took it at 3 am and couldn't sleep anymore, my heart was racing and I felt like chase, accelerated and weird racing abstract thoughts were coming to my mind. Then it triggered an allergic reaction, my body started itching. Never taking it again, too scared of it."

"I've been taking it for gastritis and reflux that began after taking Fosamax for 9 months. It helps a lot, but my gastritis is not completely gone yet and it's been 4 months since I started taking esomeprazole. I'm watching my diet more closely too and I think that's helping. It does cause cramps and diarrhea, but not all the time and the side effects are tolerable. I'm on a 40mg dose once a day."

"Took this 5 times and never taking it again. It gave me terrible nightmares, fractals in my visual (I see geometrical shapes in the back of the eye), psychosis. The first three pills I took daily and the last two after 6 months because of the terrible side effects. I waited longer to take it again thinking it wouldn't affect me the same way if I would lower the dosage (I split a 40 mg pill into two) but still gave me the horrible side effects. I'm throwing them all away. This never happens with other Proton pump inhibitor like pantoprazole or omeprazole."

"These pills give me stomach ache, bloating, headache, anxiety, and depression. But worst of all is the difficult breathing. Was really horrible."
