Diamox (acetazolamide) "I was given diamox to treat bilateral ringing in the ears, headaches and pressure behind my eyes. I am 39 years old and I have lived with ringing in my ears all of my life. I have tried every available option out there to treat tinnitus and nothing has worked. I was referred to a new specialist dealing with ear diseases and he asked me a few questions and then prescribed diamox. Within 2 hours of taking diamox the ringing in my ears stopped completely and the pressure behind my eyes went away as well as headaches I've dealt with for years. I was shocked that this medicine is working as one of the side effects was ringing in the ears but I am having the opposite effect."

"My ENT prescribed Diamox for Meniere's Disease, a build up of fluid in the inner ear. I will experience tinnitus, vertigo, ear fullness, and visual disturbances, including light sensitivity. Once starting Diamox, all of my symptoms were significantly minimized. I also struggle with migraines and noticed since taking Diamox, I have not had 1 episode. Like others, I experience diarrhea, but increasing my daily water intake has helped. I too also experience tingling in my hands and feet, but it's not intense. I just learned this medicine can suppress appetite, and this does occur with me. I also have more energy, so much, most nights I have insomnia. Has anyone else experienced this? Overall, for me the benefits certainly outweigh the costs. I've been granted a new outlook on life. Before Diamox, the Meniere's left me in a fog, both in vision and hearing. If anyone has also experienced trouble sleeping, please share what you have found to help, I would love to hear it!"

Diamox Sequels (acetazolamide) "I was diagnosed with psuedotumor cerebrae, hypertension in the brain caused by high levels of fluid. I have been on Diamox for several months. It worked then I needed another spinal tab, they upped my dose to 3 caps a day. Manufacturer and pharmacist both said NO, so now I am back on 2 caps a day; and the fluid is back! I can't take it anymore!"

Diamox Sequels (acetazolamide) "I have been on this medication since I was 27. They diagnosed me with what you call a fluid tumor on my brain, which causes to much pressure on my brain which then causes migraine headaches, really bad ones. I lived with them from the age of 17 until they did a spinal tap and found out I had to much pressure. I have been on this medication ever since. I am now 51 years old."

"Been taking this for an autoimmune disorder that attacks my inner ear nerve. We're still working on determining which one. I am pretty much completely deaf in my right ear. (4%). My left one started going and I ran to a new DR. My ENT (specialized in this area) first put me on another diuretic (after steroid injections and treatments which worked, but were not a good long term treatment plan) and we noticed no improvement. Once on Diamox (generic) my speech recognition went from 72 to 88% over 2 months! Like many of you, it wasn't long before the side effects started. The tingling was immediate. But, my DR had warned me. I didn't know what to do about it, though. Until I saw your posts about Vitamin C"
