do you get better sleep taking it in the evening because i think my sleep is all influnced by drugs like valium, serapax and Temezapam and I would like to cut them down. i dont take a lot but even a little is to much. Also I think i will talk to my doctor about a sleep test.
Is lexapro better to take in the morning or evening?

Well it's 2 am in the morning and now I'm wide awake with blankets and the air condition on to try to warm the place up, I have woken my wife up and upset her so my life is a mess I should not have put off taken the lexapro todayv

I have the same issue with lexapro. I don't know what is a best time to take it. In the day time made me drowsiness. At night I can't get to sleep. I tried both time.

Hello LizardMan. As a rule its generally taken upon awakening. Most psychiatric drugs are taken in the morning due to the nature of the drug(s) working best for you while awake, Depression, anxiety does not really bother a person during thier sleeping hours. Regards, pledge

Thanks for answering that one Pledge. I wasn't really sure, but thought that if it was his lexapro making him sleepy it would be alright to take it at bedtime. Sorry I was wrong, & glad you stepped in to get this right. With all he & his wife are dealing with right now, & not knowing all his meds & what effects they may have, It's kind of hard to answer that. I guess if I had cancer, I would have trouble sleeping myself... Mary

Hi there Mary. Its not the golden rule and you were also right on. Its really how you end up feeling, responding to the drug. I take Paxil for my anxiety and (just sharing here) I take my first pill upon awakening, which is early in the morning, than my second about 10am and my third about between one and two pm. Its a high dose and I split it by my own choice. I find it more comfortable regarding side effects (dry nose/mouth) to spread it out over say a 10 hour period of time. Give or take a few hours. Enjoy your Sunday and yup will be grilling later on and might early evening go to the local driving range and club a few golf balls. bye bye now.

Thanks guys I will start tomorrow as its 12.30 am here in Australia early on a Monday morning. And the most common answer is that it should be taken to. Suit me but I think I will start out in the morning and see what result I get I would like to even my day out and still be able to sleep at night.

That's kind of individualized, if it makes you tired take it at night, if not take it during the day. Please take whatever it is you need to be comfortable. No one wants you to suffer.

Hi LizardMan, & good morning. I am not an expert on this drug, but might suggest if it makes you tired to take it at night . How is it prescribed on your bottle? If it says just take once a day, then it is your option when to take it. If it says to take it in the morning then I would either ask your pharmacist or call your doctor, but think they wil advise you to the same. It's horrible to be so tired all day & then not to sleep at night. Hope you are feeling a bit better. I see you took my advice & joined a few other groups. I knew it would help you. Thanks Mary, I've given it an extra day off any antidepressants however I know that after tonight I am going to have to take something and it looks like I will start tomorrrow on lexaproh as I've got myself worked up so much tonight that I don't know nor understand what is wrong with me. I just had tablets and I think I've taken on but I'm not sure now I will have to wait for a few hours then do it again. I will have to write things down so that I do remember. Sorry girl that's not what this is about I'm just having a hard time at the moment. And it's all for a pill. The worst part is when you go looking for any help all one seems to find is negative issues and not to many positive thoughts or results.

I would get a pill box if I were you. Its filled for a week and you can look and see if you took the pills for that day and time.

I totally understand, & if I had your problems would also be wroked up. Pledge has stepped in & given you the correctanswer . He knows his antidepressants very well. Hope your anxiety gets better & you get some decent rest... Mary
