Warning

You should not receive the vaccine a second time if you had a life threatening allergic reaction after the first shot.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Keep track of all side effects you have, be sure to tell the vaccination provider if the previous shot caused any side effects.

You should not receive a second shot if you had a life-threatening allergic reaction after the first shot.

Becoming infected with meningococcal disease and developing meningitis is much more dangerous to your health than receiving this vaccine. Any vaccine may cause side effects but the risk of serious side effects is low.

You may feel faint after receiving this vaccine. Your doctor may want you to remain under observation during the first 15 minutes after the injection.

General

The most common adverse reactions reported after receiving both doses of this vaccine were pain at the injection site, muscle pain, fatigue, headache, injection site swelling and redness, joint pain, and chills.[Ref]

Gastrointestinal

Very common (10% or more): Diarrhea (up to 11%)

Common (1% to 10%): Vomiting

Hypersensitivity

Postmarketing reports: Allergic reaction (including anaphylaxis)[Ref]

Very common (10% or more): Injection site pain (up to 89.3%), injection site redness (up to 25.9%), injection site swelling (up to 25%)

Musculoskeletal

Very common (10% or more): Joint pain (up to 20.2%), muscle pain (up to 25.7%)[Ref]

Common (1% to 10%): Fever

Nervous system

Very common (10% or more): Chills (up to 20.1%), fatigue (up to 52.1%), headache (up to 46.8%)
