Chlordiazepoxide / methscopolamine Side Effects

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have rarely included skin eruptions.[Ref]

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included nausea, constipation, and dryness of the mouth.[Ref]

Genitourinary

Genitourinary side effects have included minor menstrual irregularities and urinary hesitancy.[Ref]

Hematologic

Hematologic side effects have included blood dyscrasias, including agranulocytosis.[Ref]

Hepatic

Hepatic side effects have rarely included jaundice and hepatic dysfunction.[Ref]

Periodic blood counts and liver function tests are recommended when chlordiazepoxide treatment is prolonged.[Ref]

Ocular

Ocular side effects have included blurring of vision.[Ref]

Nervous system

Nervous system side effects have included drowsiness and confusion. Changes in EEG patterns (low-voltage fast activity) has also been reported during and after chlordiazepoxide treatment. Rarely, syncope has been reported.[Ref]

The elderly and debilitated may be more susceptible to the side effects of chlordiazepoxide. Drowsiness, ataxia, and confusion have occasionally been reported at the lower dosage ranges.[Ref]

Other

Other side effects have rarely included reports of increased and decreased libido.[Ref]

Edema has been reported during chlordiazepoxide therapy.[Ref]
