Brompheniramine / dihydrocodeine / phenylephrine Side Effects

Applies to brompheniramine/dihydrocodeine/phenylephrine: oral liquid.

Warning

Do not use this medicine if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.

You should not use this medicine if you have recently used alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or other narcotic medications.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have:

Nervous system

Nervous system side effects have included light-headedness, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, sedation, hallucinations, vivid dreams, severe narcosis, lassitude, giddiness, increased irritability or excitement.[Ref]

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dry mouth, indigestion, anorexia, and spasm of the biliary tract.[Ref]

Respiratory

Respiratory side effects have included respiratory depression and cough suppression.[Ref]

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have included pruritis.[Ref]

Ocular

Ocular side effects have included miosis and blurred vision.[Ref]

Renal

Renal side effects have included granulomatous interstitial nephritis and acute renal failure.[Ref]
