Octoxynol topical Pregnancy Warnings

Octoxynol topical has not been formally assigned to a pregnancy category by the FDA. Animal studies have not been reported. A meta-analysis of available studies concluded that no increased risk of birth defects can be attributed to spermicides. Octoxynol topical use is considered safe during pregnancy.

There are no data on the excretion of octoxynol topical into human milk. Use of vaginal spermicides has not been reported to cause problems in nursing babies.
