Ifosfamide / Mesna Dosage

Applies to the following strengths: 1 g-1 g; 3 g-1 g

Usual Adult Dose for Testicular Cancer

1.2 g/m2 for 5 consecutive days. Mesna should be administered just before and 4 and 8 hours after each dose of ifosfamide. Treatment is repeated every 3 weeks or after recovery from hematologic toxicity.

Renal Dose Adjustments

Although ifosfamide has been administered to a small number of patients with compromised renal and/or hepatic function, studies to identify optimal dose schedules have not been conducted.

Precautions

Ifosfamide should be given with extensive hydration consisting of at least 2 liters of oral or intravenous fluid per day.

Safety and effectiveness have not been established in pediatric patients (less than 18 years of age).

Other Comments

Ifosfamide should be administered as a slow intravenous infusion lasting a minimum of 30 minutes.
