Is hydroxychloroquine sulfate a member of the sulfa drug family?

Allergy to sulfonamide antibiotics has no relationship to allergies to hydroxychloroquine.

sulfate and sulfa are two different things. what you are allergic to is sulfonamides like bactrim, right? These are not sulfates. Sulfate used after a drug name is just the last name of the chemical, its the sulfate salt. It has nothing to do with sulfonamides.

I would have thought that the "sulfate" in the name would be a give away? The active components are bound to a sulphur compound as it slows down release times compared to hydrogen chloride which are usually found in faster release medications.
