Warnings

Do not use this product in food producing animals including horses that are to be slaughtered for use as food. Keep out of reach of children.

Buzone Conc. Indications

Buzone Conc. is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug indicated as an aid in the treatment of arthritis, myositis and rheumatism in horses.

Dosage and Administration

Administer orally 1 to 2 g of phenylbutazone per 227 kg of body weight, daily, in at least 2 divided doses. Daily dosage should not exceed 4 g. As symptoms regress, reduce dosage to a level able to control the condition. In some cases treatment should be given only while symptoms are evident with no need for continuous medication.

NOTES:

Using the enclosed spoon, 1 level spoon of powder contains approximately 1 g of phenylbutazone.

CAUTIONS:

If no significant clinical improvement is noted in 5 days, the diagnosis and treatment should be re-evaluated. Discontinue medication if signs of gastrointestinal upset, jaundice or blood dyscrasia appear. When inflammatory conditions are caused by micro-organisms, adequate therapy should be given simultaneously with phenylbutazone.

Contraindications

This treatment is contraindicated in horses with cardiac, renal or hepatic insufficiency and in cases with signs or history of anemia or other haemocytological disorders. The use of this product or any other NSAID is contraindicated in horses with preexisting gastrointestinal ulcers or if bleeding is suspected. Do not administer concurrently with corticosteroids or other NSAIDs. Do not administer to dehydrated animals.

Adverse Reactions

Oral and gastrointestinal erosions and ulcers, hypoalbuminemia, diarrhea, anorexia, renal effects (azotemia, renal papillary necrosis, sodium and water retention), and blood dyscrasias have been reported with the use of phenylbutazone.

STORAGE CONDITIONS:

Store between 15°C and 25°C. Protect from moisture.
